shrIdurgA nakShatramAlikAstutI

{|| shrIdurgA nakShatramAlikAstutI ||}
INTRODUCTION:- The Pandava king Yudhishtira, with his wife Panchali
and brothers had to spend twelve years in the forests and an year
incognito as he forfeited his kingdom consequent to his defeat in
the game of chess with his brother Duryodhana. They suffered many
hardships during the year they spent in the kingdom of Virata in
disguise. Some sages advised them to pray to Sri Durga Devi to be
free from the hardships that assailed them. They taught the Pandavas this
hymn consisting of twenty seven verses. The Pandavas accepted their
advice and prayed to Devi reciting these verses. Devi was pleased
with their prayer and appeared before them She blessed them. As a
result, they were able to spend the time without being affected
by difficulties and without being detected by the opponents. They
were also successful in their fight with the Kauravas in the famous
KurukShetra war and won back their kingdom. Durga Devi also assured
the Pandavas that anyone who recites the hymn with devotion will
also be blessed like the Pandavas.
